This term comes from the 'Record of the Three Kingdoms' (Sanguozhi - Shu Zhi, Ma Liang Zhuan). Ma Liang of Shu had four brothers who were all exceptionally talented, but Ma Liang was the most outstanding among them. He was distinguished by the white hairs in his eyebrows, leading to the saying that among the Ma brothers, 'the one with the white eyebrows is the best.'
